ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE IN ESCUELA DEL NIÑO DE ORO

The year 2011 marks the unfolding of the second decade of Escuela del Niño de Oro.

January opened up with a big bang. Dr. Adela Alcantara Obja-an receives, for the second time from the Department of Education, Division of the City of San Fernando, the MOST OUTSTANDING PRIVATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL award.

Seven of the eight grade six pupils sent to take entrance exam at the Information and Communication Technology High School passed the first and second screening test. Three of them are now enrolled for the school year 2011-2012 Samantha Rae Reyes, Meira Angelica Flores and Kathleen Fate Cabrera.

The first decade of the history of the school is short. Yet, it has sparkles of precious gems of excellence.

In the school year 2006-2007 the school, represented by Ella Catacutan, the valedictorian of class 2007, won the elementary level championship in the inter-school quiz bee organized by the local government of the City of San Fernando. It was the first inter-school contest participated in by the school in the city of San Fernando.

In the school year 2008-2009 Pauline Rimorin, valedictorian of batch 2009, won championship for the elementary level in the inter-school spelling bee contest organized by Don Bosco Academy of Pampanga.

Ella and Pauline have shown that intelligent pupils in the small schoool could defeat intelligent pupils of bigger schools . They have proven the academic excellence of Escuale del Nino de Oro.

Add to that, Dr. Adela Alcantara Obja-an, Ph. D. in Education, the Directress was the recipient of the GAWAD DANGAL AWARD as the most outstanding school principal for the private schools elementary level in the City of San Fernando for the school year 2008. She had been the president of the Association of Private Schools Administrators (APSA) of the City of San Fernando for some years.

Escuela del Nino de Oro, indeed, is small but beautiful. The 15 year development program of the school is the strategic plan of action that shaped the school. Think big, start small, scale up fast!

This was translated into the construction of the first building with two classroom for the pre-elementary in the school year 2000-2001. The construction of the second building with four bigger classroom for the elementary in 2004 poised the school to scale up fast.

A two story building to house the modern laboratory and other school facilities is scheduled for construction in the parking lot site in the near future.

From the first year enrollment of 17 pupils the enrollment steadily and solidly increased to 106 in the school year 2009-2010. Turning itself into a special science and inclusive elementary school, the school widens the target market and hope the steady and solid growth to continue.

Escuela del Niño de Oro is a Catholic school founded by the couple, Dr. Adela Alcantara Obja-an and Rogelio del Rosario Obja-an. The inspiration is their only son, John Roger Obja-an, who now is taking up Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in Philippine Normal University . He finished his high school in Don Bosco Academy, where he was awarded gold medals for academic excellence.

The initial capitalization came from the sales of the properties of the couple in the province. A non-stock non-profit corporation, Escuela del Nino de Oro, Inc. was founded to run and manage the school.

The success story of the first decade was the interplay of the grace of God and christen zeal of service in one hand, and the sense of entrepreneurship and professionalism in the other. The Christian service that the school offers has the trademark of affordable quality education.

The hallmarks of this quality education is academic excellence and values formation. The heart is the blend of faculty and instruction.

Affordable Quality Education is what the school banner as the second decade of the school unfurl. Ensuring this quality education is Dr. Adela Alcantara Obja-an, Ph. D. She finished her Ph. D, Summa Cum Laude, at the University of Santo Tomas. She is currently taking her second Doctorate on Special Education at UP Diliman.

She is a two time Awardee (Years 2008 and 2010) as the Most Outstanding Private Elementary School Principal in the City of San Fernando. These awards were given by the Department of Education, Division of the City of San Fernandoo.

From the current image of small is beautul, ESCUELA DEL NIÑO DE ORO projects to fashion in the future an image of being big and powerful. The school year 2011-2112 registered the highest number of enrollment in the history of the school. A trend setter for the second decade of the school!
